So I started this blog just over a week ago. Has there been any weight loss, you wonder?
Unfortunately, no. I have been reflecting all weekend on it, trying to remain positive and honest with myself. (well, I did have one moment of venting my frustration) But here are some positive things that resulted from my hard work:
- I exercised more in 1 week than I had in a long while.
- I had tons more energy, allowing me to get more done before 1:00. (nap time, when everything stops!)
- I can tell that my post-partum (with extra padding) stomach is getting a bit tighter by the way it looks when I wear jeans. (not as much hang over... TMI!)
- I followed our week's meal plan perfectly. I didn't over snack at all!
I did break one of my new rules last week, and that is that I baked a small batch of cookies for us. (I can only back yummy treats if it involves extra people other than just us.)
But both Dan and I are starting a fun, friendly competition with my sister and her husband. (Thanks, Jamie!) It's end goal is weight-loss, but the main goal is to create good habits with a point system: better sleep at night, adding daily fruits/veggies, increases water intake, etc. I am willing to add anything to this process I have started, except weight-loss "medication." This is a 2-month competition, and we need to come up with a "prize" for the winning couple. Any ideas?!
Good luck to both couples.
(If anyone who happens to read this is interested in the fun competition, I am happy to email it to you.)

I think you're awesome for putting it all out there like this. Keep up the good work!
Way to have a good attitude- stick with it! I'm sure you will continue to see results in every area, not just the number on the scale.
I'm up for the competition! I've gone down one size since having Charlie (gulp, 9 months ago) and I really need to lose about 35 more pounds.
As for a prize for you and Jamie, what about tending for a weekend away? (If Jamie wins, she probably won't cash it in for a year, but you're going to win anyway, right?) You both are crafty- what about a quilt or scrapbook or something?
What? Can't believe you didn't include Amanda and I in your competition. We'd win for total weight put on and total weight taken off in a 3 month span. (Hard to compete with birth as a form of weight loss!)
Oh, we'll totally do it again come May. We know what happens to hubbies during pregnancies...it's all part of the support, right!? It would be our multi-state competition! Plan it.
I'm currently using nutrimirror to track my food and it is amazing. one of the most important things I've learned is that weight loss SHOULD be a slow steady process if you want it to last. I wouldn't worry about it.
And now I'll keep reading knowing that you aren't and weren't worried. :)
